CATL Starts Trial Production at Debrecen Plant On 22 September, CATL began trial production on the first two cell lines at its new Debrecen facility after securing the required permits. This phase will optimise and validate equipment and processes before mass production. Key milestones: • August 2022: Debrecen plant announced • Summer 2023: Cell facility construction began • Autumn 2024: Module production started; 537,000 modules produced to date • Spring–August 2026: Cell facility equipped and permitted • September 2026: First two cell lines entered trial production Once completed, the 100 GWh plant is expected to become CATL's largest production base outside China, supplying European automakers and strengthening the regional EV battery supply chain. #CATL #BatteryManufacturing #Debrecen #Hungary #EVBattery #EuropeanSupplyChain
