Equipment manufacturers exporting to Europe need to pay attention to the PPWR regulation. PPWR is the EU’s new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, which came into effect on February 11, 2025, and most of its requirements will apply from August 12, 2026. It will gradually replace the original Packaging Directive, setting more unified and stricter requirements for packaging entering the EU market. For new energy equipment enterprises, compliance is not only about the product itself, but also about packaging such as outer boxes, pallets, wooden boxes, foam, plastic bags, stretch wrap, and cushioning materials. Before entering the EU market, it is recommended to focus on four key tasks: 1. Pre-shipment document pre-inspection: Verify the packaging BOM, materials, weight, test reports, and environmental declarations. 2. Role and EPR diagnosis: Confirm who is the producer and importer, and which EU countries require registration and reporting. 3. Establishment of compliance foundation: Create a BOM master table, packaging material mapping, technical documentation (TD), and Declaration of Conformity (DoC). 4. Annual maintenance: Track regulatory updates, conduct pre-shipment document checks, submit EPR annual reports, and provide support for inspections. PPWR is not a one-time certification, but continuous compliance management throughout the entire lifecycle of packaging. Enterprises need to make arrangements as early as possible to avoid affecting equipment delivery.
